Entered the country for murder: Long prison sentence for teenager (16)

He is said to have traveled to Copenhagen to commit murder on behalf of criminals: A young Swede has been sentenced in Denmark to five and a half years in prison followed by deportation. The Copenhagen District Court sentenced the 16-year-old for attempted murder and attempted possession of a firearm with magazine and ammunition.

This is the first verdict of its kind in a whole series of cases in which teenagers from Sweden have been accused of serious crimes in neighboring Denmark. The court found it proven that the defendant had agreed to travel from northern Sweden to Copenhagen in April 2024 in exchange for payment in order to obtain a firearm and shoot a person in the Danish capital region.

Court does not believe the 16-year-old
The crime was not carried out, the 16-year-old was arrested in time. He declared in court that he ultimately had no intention of carrying out the order. The court did not believe him because of messages on his cell phone, among other things. The teenager appealed against the verdict.

Problems with criminal gangs
Sweden has had a major problem with criminal gangs for years. The gangs are increasingly recruiting young teenagers, who then commit serious crimes for them. This problem spilled over into Denmark this year. Denmark's Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard warned of "Swedish conditions" in his country.
