Municipal worker pursues recycling center burglar

The recycling center in Birgitz in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land was the scene of a burglary late Sunday afternoon. Four Romanians had gained access to the site through a hole in the fence and then broke into a wooden barn. A community worker got wind of this and chased the suspects, who fled on foot, by car.

At around 4.45 p.m., the four suspects, aged 23, 26, 36 and 45, broke through a hole in the fence onto the recycling yard site in Birgitz. "They then broke open the lock to a wooden barn and stole several items of clothing from it," reported the police.

Caught in the act
A short time later, the Romanian quartet was caught red-handed by an attentive municipal employee. The men then fled on foot in the direction of Götzens.

While the municipal employee pursued the suspects in his car, he informed the police.

Charge at large after arrest
A short time later, the four men were located by a patrol and provisionally arrested. After questioning, they were released. Corresponding charges will follow.
