How bitter! Giorgia Collomb almost scored her first World Cup points in the women's slalom in Gurgl if she hadn't slipped past the very last gate ...

The Italian had qualified for the second run with start number 64, and a safe run would have secured the 18-year-old her first points.

Pushed out of the start house, a best run time seemed a long way off, but Collomb mastered the difficult steep slope passages without any major problems. 

The fact that the last gate of all things ruined her race will probably be on the young technical specialist's mind for a few hours this evening, but her run in the first heat proved that she definitely has what it takes.
