Accident on slippery road: 60-year-old injured

Serious traffic accident in Grinzens in Tyrol: two cars collided head-on in wintry road conditions on Thursday evening. One driver (60) was seriously injured.

At around 9.15 pm, the 60-year-old Austrian woman was driving her car in the municipality of Grinzens on the Sellrainer Landesstraße in the direction of Sellrain. At the same time, a 20-year-old local man was driving his car on the same road in the direction of Kematen. An 18-year-old Austrian woman was also in the vehicle.

Sliding into oncoming traffic
"The 20-year-old driver stated that he had been driving slowly in winter road conditions. Nevertheless, the vehicle slid straight into the oncoming lane of traffic while braking in the bend and hit the oncoming vehicle head-on," said the police.

Taken to hospital with injuries
The collision triggered the airbags of both vehicles. The 60-year-old female driver was seriously injured in the accident and had to be taken to the hospital in Hall by the ambulance service. Both vehicles sustained considerable material damage and had to be recovered by a towing company.
