Caught in a scam with a Krampus mask and fur

"Devilish" rip-off in Tyrol: An 18-year-old local man fell victim to brazen internet fraudsters. The young man ordered a Krampus mask and a fur on an online sales platform and paid for it. Nothing was delivered. The money is gone.

The 18-year-old from the Tyrolean Oberland had already become aware of the Krampus mask advertisement on a social media platform at the beginning of November. In the course of the purchase transaction with the supposed seller, the young man was asked to transfer a low, three-digit euro amount twice.

But that was not all: the mask also needed the matching fur. A few days later, the 18-year-old "therefore intended to purchase a Krampus skin via the same platform", according to the police. He was again asked to make two transfers to an Italian bank account. Which he did!

As the items he had already paid for had not yet been delivered to the buyer, he filed a complaint on Sunday.

However, neither the mask nor the fur has yet been delivered. On Sunday, the victim of the scam finally went to the police and filed a complaint. The money - almost 1000 euros - is probably lost forever.
