Hoftrac overturned: Farmer (38) trapped

Devastating accident in Schlitters in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz on Wednesday. A local farmer (38) wanted to bring a silage bale into the barn. While reversing, however, the Hoftrac tipped over. A neighbor heard the cries for help.

The serious accident happened at around 9.40 pm. The 38-year-old wanted to use the Hoftrac to transport away a silage bale that was stored on the site. "He loaded the bale with the fork and wanted to drive backwards to the barn," said the investigators. 

The Hoftrac tipped to one side on the soft and slightly sloping ground.

The farmer was thrown out of the vehicle and his left foot was trapped under the Hoftrac.

Neighbor raised the alarm
"The farmer was thrown out of the vehicle and his left foot was trapped under the Hoftrac. The rear of the vehicle caught on a tree, which prevented it from tipping completely onto its side." 

A neighbor heard the 38-year-old's cries for help and set the rescue chain in motion. 

Fire department recovered vehicle, emergency doctor provided first aid
The Schlitters volunteer fire department recovered the vehicle using hydraulic equipment and freed the Tyrolean. An emergency doctor and the ambulance provided first aid on site. The 38-year-old was then taken to Schwaz hospital.
