Worker cuts off finger with welding machine

Serious accident at work in the Innviertel region: A worker (37) got his finger caught in a welding machine as he was trying to push it onto a Euro pallet. Colleagues immediately provided first aid until the 37-year-old was taken to hospital.

The accident happened at around 8.30 a.m. on Monday in St. Martin im Innkreis. A 37-year-old man from the district of Ried was working on a welding machine there. Together with a colleague, the worker wanted to push a heavy welding machine onto a Euro pallet.

Wheel began to turn
According to the police, the 37-year-old was holding the device by the metal cover of the wheels when the wheel suddenly started turning. The worker trapped a finger between the wheel and the metal cover, which may have severed it.

Work colleagues immediately attended to the injured man and provided first aid. The 37-year-old was then taken to Ried Hospital.
