Car overturns, Romanian flees the scene of the accident

The Salzburg police found the driver and his passenger lying in a meadow. The two had been hiding after a spectacular collision. The reason for the brief cat-and-mouse game was soon obvious: the driver had two per mille alcohol. 

In the late evening of November 7, a 23-year-old Romanian citizen lost control of his vehicle on the Wolfgangsee-Bundesstraße. The vehicle then rolled over several times and finally came to rest on the road. The 23-year-old driver and his 26-year-old passenger initially fled the scene of the accident. 

Successful search operation
Several police patrols were deployed. The search operation was quickly over. The officers found the two occupants lying in a meadow about 100 meters from the scene of the accident.

A breathalyzer test on the 23-year-old driver showed a blood alcohol level of 2 per mille. He had to be taken to Salzburg University Hospital with indeterminate injuries. The passenger refused further medical treatment. The fire department from Hof recovered the badly damaged vehicle. Investigations into the exact circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
