Coincidence or normality
Poisonous spiders in Europe: this is the danger
They only measure a few millimetres, but their bite can have fatal consequences: Last year, a 23-year-old Italian died after being bitten by a so-called violin spider. A 52-year-old man had previously died after being bitten by a spider of the same species in Sicily. Coincidence or new normality in a Europe that has never been known for its poisonous fauna? Krone+ with the background.
Poisonous snakes, frogs, scorpions or even spiders are usually found in the jungles of South America, the deserts of Africa or the Australian outback. Europe, on the other hand, has hardly been known for threatening, potentially deadly reptiles and arachnids. However, fear has recently increased after deaths attributed to a certain spider attracted a great deal of attention. Is this just scaremongering or is the concern justified?
