Crash due to coughing fit: both drivers drunk

Spectacular traffic accident on Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean lowlands: due to a coughing fit, a 62-year-old man drove his car into the oncoming lane. There he collided with the car of a younger man (35). The latter left the road due to the force of the impact. Explosive: both (!) drivers were under the influence of alcohol.

The accident occurred at around 7.30 pm near Münster in the district of Kufstein. The 62-year-old local man was driving his car on the Unterinntalstraße coming from Kramsach and, according to the current state of the investigation, ended up in the oncoming lane "due to a coughing fit".

There was a collision with the oncoming car of the 35-year-old. The younger man's car skidded across the adjacent steep grassy area due to the impact before coming to a standstill.

A breathalyzer test was carried out on the drivers and both men tested positive.

The vehicles were totaled, but the drivers were uninjured. "A breathalyzer test was carried out on the drivers and both men tested positive," said the police. The 35-year-old's driver's license was confiscated. Corresponding charges will follow.
