North Korea fired several ballistic missiles

According to the South Korean military, North Korea has once again carried out a missile test. Several short-range ballistic missiles were fired from the western province of North Hwanghae towards the Sea of Japan (Korean: East Sea) early on Tuesday morning (local time).

The report was published by the South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing the General Staff. North Korea last tested an intercontinental ballistic missile last week.

UN prohibits ballistic missile tests
UN resolutions prohibit the self-proclaimed nuclear power from launching or even testing ballistic missiles of any range. These are usually surface-to-surface missiles which - depending on their design - can also be equipped with a nuclear warhead.

Criticism over the deployment of soldiers to Russia
Tensions on the Korean peninsula have recently increased significantly. North Korea has significantly increased its missile tests over the past two years and stepped up its rhetoric against the USA and South Korea. According to the South Korean secret service and the US Department of Defense, North Korea has also sent several thousand soldiers to Russia, where they are presumably being prepared for deployment against Ukraine.
