Vienna: Driver (25) races into a crowd of people

On Thursday afternoon, a 25-year-old drove his car in a wild chase with the Vienna police. He also endangered numerous lives in the process.

The driver was driving at excessive speed on the Gumpendorfer Gürtel at around 5.45 p.m. when the police became aware of him. Despite several attempts to stop him, he continued to speed through the streets.

Pedestrian endangered
While fleeing from the police, the 25-year-old endangered several pedestrians on Linke Wienzeile who were crossing a crosswalk. He simply sped through the crowd. Fortunately, all the pedestrians were able to get out of the way in time.

Driver raced across the oncoming lane
Shortly afterwards, the 25-year-old tried to flee across the oncoming lane to avoid a red light. In doing so, he sped off towards officers, who were only just able to save themselves by jumping to the side. 

Finally, he collided with a tire of the police car and came to a complete stop. The 25-year-old was then arrested, but fought back violently with kicks and elbow strikes.

No valid driver's license
During the subsequent search, narcotics were seized. In addition, the suspect does not have a valid driver's license. The suspect was reported several times. He is currently in custody.
