Liverpool FC have taken over the lead in the Premier League after English champions Manchester City slipped up. While the Reds came from 1-0 down at the break to win their 10th round match against Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 on Saturday, ManCity suffered their first league defeat in a 2-1 away draw against AFC Bournemouth.

Liverpool (25) are now two points ahead of Manchester City (23), followed at least temporarily by Nottingham Forest (19). Arsenal (18) are only fourth after their third winless game in a row. Aston Villa (18) at Tottenham and Chelsea (17) at Manchester United could still overtake them on Sunday.

Liverpool were trailing at Anfield Road a few days after their League Cup clash, which the Reds won 3-2 at Brighton. New signing Ferdi Kadioglu (14) had put the visitors ahead. After the break, Liverpool striker Cody Gakpo (69) and Mohamed Salah (72) turned the game around in favor of coach Arne Slot's team.

Second competitive defeat in a row for Manchester City
In Bournemouth, Man City fell behind as early as the 9th minute thanks to a goal from Antoine Semenyo. Evanilson (64') increased the hosts' lead and shortly afterwards Marcus Tavernier (68') also hit the bar.

Josko Gvardiol (82) scored the equalizer too late. It was the second competitive defeat in a row for Pep Guardiola's side after the 2-1 League Cup defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
