Car driver plunged 70 meters after collision

Dramatic accident on the Hahntennjoch road: two cars collided, after which one plunged into the abyss. Trees finally broke the fall and the driver was able to climb out of the wreck herself. 

At around 1.15 pm on Friday, a head-on collision between two cars occurred on the Hahntennjochstraße in the municipality of Imst for unknown reasons.

After the collision, the car of the 57-year-old Croatian driver plunged approx. 70 meters into a steeply sloping forest area. The vehicle overturned several times and finally came to rest between the trees.

First responders brought the woman back to the road
The second car involved, driven by the 60-year-old Austrian, came to a halt on the road with severe damage. The 57-year-old woman was able to free herself from the vehicle after the crash and was then brought to the Hahntennjochstraße by first responders.

After first aid, she was taken to the hospital in Innsbruck by the Martin 2 emergency helicopter with injuries of indeterminate severity. The 60-year-old was taken to Zams Hospital by the ambulance with undetermined degree injuries.

The Hahntennjochstraße had to be closed for about an hour to recover the vehicle.
