Drunk driver drives on despite broken tire

Wild scenes unfolded in Innsbruck on Tuesday evening: a drunk driver lost control, crashed over traffic islands and damaged barriers and a tree. Not even a broken tire could stop the woman at first.

At around 7.30 p.m., the 57-year-old local woman was driving her car eastbound on Haller Straße in Innsbruck. Suddenly, the woman lost control of the car - "she drove onto a traffic island and damaged the traffic barrier there", according to the police.

Stop and get out? Not a chance! The 57-year-old was also apparently unimpressed by the broken tire. "She continued her journey, drove onto a traffic island again and also damaged the traffic control device there as well as a small tree," the investigators continued.

A breathalyzer test carried out on the Austrian woman revealed that she was heavily intoxicated.
