Criminal investigation clarified brawl – perpetrators only 13-16 years old

The criminal investigation department has been investigating a brawl in the Salzburg district of Lehen since May 2024. Two men (29 and 30) were attacked by a group of youths after an event. The younger of the two was kicked and punched while lying on the ground. The perpetrators have now been tracked down.

It took the police almost five months to find all the perpetrators: They tracked down all those involved in the crime, aged between 13 and 16. The young men come from Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Austria. Some of them confessed or refused to testify. 

What happened? On the evening of May 19, a 29-year-old man from Salzburg and a 30-year-old friend went to their bicycles from an event in Salzburg-Lehen. After a brief verbal argument with a group of young people, one of the strangers attacked the 29-year-old. The remaining, initially unknown accomplices then punched the man who was lying on the ground.

The group only fled because witnesses raised the alarm and called the police. The man from Salzburg was seriously injured in the attack. Neither the victim nor witnesses were able to provide any information about the unknown men. Now, thanks to meticulous investigative work and a blurred image of the suspects, the perpetrators have been tracked down.
