Drunk driver (19) crashes into crash barrier: Injured

A local man (19) was clearly too drunk on Sunday night before he got behind the wheel of his car. It came as it had to: the young Tyrolean left the road in the Imst district and crashed into several road installations.

The accident happened at around 3.15 am. The 19-year-old was driving his car on the L16 from Arzl im Pitztal in the direction of Imst. "In the area of a left-hand bend, he left the road due to excessive speed," said the police.

A breathalyzer test carried out revealed considerable alcoholization.

Driver was able to free himself
The vehicle then crashed head-on into the guardrail, a traffic sign and a crash barrier. In the end, the car came to a standstill between the crash barrier and a wall. "The injured driver was able to climb out of the vehicle on his own."

Driving license is gone
After first aid by the emergency services, the young Tyrolean was taken to Zams Hospital. "A breathalyzer test revealed considerable alcoholization." The 19-year-old has now lost his "license". Corresponding reports to the various authorities will follow.
