Driver got out after accident and was run over

Terrible scenes unfolded on the Mühlkreis highway in Upper Austria on Friday morning. A 42-year-old driver first caused an accident, then got out of the car and is believed to have wandered around on the carriageway. Another driver was no longer able to take evasive action ...

The 42-year-old from Engerwitzdorf was driving on the Mühlkreisautobahn towards Freistadt at around 7 a.m. on Friday. Shortly before the exit for his home town, he left the road to the right, hit the concrete crash barrier and was then thrown across the road to the left against the center guardrail.

Accident driver wandered onto the road
The 42-year-old was able to get out of the car via the passenger side. According to the police, he probably climbed over the center guardrail onto the other lane and wandered around there.

And that's when a woman from Mühlviertel (30) drove into the overtaking lane. Despite braking hard, she hit the errant driver. The 42-year-old was seriously injured as a result. After first aid by the emergency doctor, the ambulance took him to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz.
