Unfortunate man fell for four scams

In a diabolical cycle of promises made and broken, fraudsters stole thousands of euros from an 81-year-old victim who was not helped by advice from the police.

Fraudsters have been exploiting the gullibility and greed of their victims since time immemorial. This is what happened to an 81-year-old from the Villach-Land district. With an advertisement for a "profitable" crypto investment, disaster took its course: he transferred hundreds of euros, but the promised payout did not materialize.

He then searched for and found a company to help him. Because the company promised him an additional 10,000 euros in profit, he paid several thousand euros - again nothing. Then the "head of the company" contacted him personally: for a small four-figure sum, he could even get several hundred thousand euros. When nothing came of this either, the man finally went to the police, who expressly warned him against making further contact - to no avail.

When a woman contacted him via messenger service and offered help, he installed software on his cell phone. Fraudsters then siphoned off thousands of euros from his account again.
