“Fabulous record”: professional cyclist completes crazy round trip

Former professional road cyclist Lachlan Morton has completed his 14,200 km circumnavigation of Australia by bike in a new fabulous record time of 30 days and 10 hours as part of a charity campaign. 

The 32-year-old completed an average of more than 450 km a day on the solo ride through his home country. This made him a whole week faster than the previous record holder 13 years ago.

"I've never been so relieved to have finished something. In the past ten days, I've been to places physically and mentally that I've never been before - and spent quite a lot of time there," Morton told the Guardian after the ordeal.
