Couple hit concrete pillar without braking

A 67-year-old man from Weyregg left the road in a left-hand bend in Steinbach am Attersee (Upper Austria) on Sunday and drove into a concrete pillar without braking. His wife (70) in the passenger seat and he were seriously injured in the accident.

Accident on a long bend
According to the police, shortly after the village of Seefeld, the vehicle left the road on a long left-hand bend and crashed head-on into a concrete pillar, which is part of a retaining wall running along the slope, without braking.

According to the Red Cross, both occupants suffered serious injuries. The 67-year-old driver was flown to Wels Hospital in the "Martin 3" rescue helicopter. His wife was taken by ambulance to the Salzkammergutklinikum Vöcklabruck.
