Fire alarm at the municipal office: six fire brigades responded

Major alarm in Garsten, there was a fire! It was smoking right next to the prison, but the building that was affected is no less well-known: the municipal office. Six fire brigades arrived to extinguish the fire, and the police and rescue services were also on site. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Two hours after the end of office hours, at 2.18 pm to be precise, the fire departments received the alarm: Fire in the municipal office. As this is located in the middle of the densely built-up center of Garsten, six fire brigades arrived, and a platoon also came from nearby Steyr to provide support.

"When we arrived, thick smoke was already billowing out of two windows and the blinds were already starting to melt," reports the Garsten fire department.

Fortunately, it was only half as bad. The helpers were able to locate the source of the smoke in the basement of the municipal office, specifically in the server room. Thanks to the rapid intervention, serious damage was prevented. A technical defect is currently assumed. The first fire brigades returned shortly before 4 pm.
