Severely injured pilot raised the alarm after the crash

Fatal leisure accident in the Tyrolean Oberland: a 40-year-old German woman crashed while paragliding in Fliess (Landeck district) and suffered serious injuries. The woman was able to make an emergency call herself.

The terrible accident had already occurred on Tuesday. The woman had unexpectedly lost altitude so that it was no longer possible to fly over a ridge.

Crashed into rocky terrain
"The pilot then tried to make an emergency landing on a forest path. In doing so, the German woman grazed a treetop with the left wing of her paraglider, turned on her own axis and crashed unbraked five meters onto stony terrain," the police reported on Thursday.

To hospital by helicopter
Despite her serious injuries, the woman was still able to make the emergency call herself. After receiving first aid from the emergency doctor, she was flown to Zams Hospital by emergency helicopter.
