A 29-year-old man has been killed by gunfire in a bar in the center of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg. All medical help came too late for the man, who died on the spot. Two other people were injured by gunshots. The shooter, dressed in black, is on the run.

According to reports, several people had called the emergency services late on Wednesday evening to report gunshots. The first police officers found the three victims in the pub with gunshot wounds.

"No danger to the population"
 The Mayor of Göppingen, Alexander Maier (Greens), had previously told the German Press Agency that there was no danger to the population. Several media outlets had previously reported this.

According to Maier, the 19th Göppingen Wine Festival was taking place at the time of the shooting. This had not been evacuated, but had ended normally. There had been no panic. 

It was also initially unclear whether the crime had any connection to the bloody feud between two rival groups in the Stuttgart area. People have been shot at repeatedly since the summer of 2022, and a hand grenade has also exploded. However, the number of incidents has decreased significantly in recent months. This could also be due to increasing pressure from investigators. According to the State Office of Criminal Investigation, more than 70 suspected supporters have been arrested so far.
