Vienna: Patrol car slammed into billboard

A police patrol car was involved in a violent crash in Vienna's city center early Tuesday morning. First the police car collided with a small truck, then the patrol vehicle was also thrown against a billboard. Two officers and the driver of the van were injured.

The accident occurred during a patrol. The police were on the road with their blue lights flashing when the fatal collision occurred. 

Collision at a junction
At the same moment, the driver of the small truck turned right from Franz-Josefs-Kai into Biberstraße. The collision then occurred as the van was turning. The police car was then thrown against a billboard. 

Streetcar service blocked
The two police officers and the other driver were slightly injured in the accident. The professional fire department had to be called out to remove the damaged vehicles. During the operation, the streetcar service in this area was also closed for an hour. According to the police, individual traffic was severely disrupted.
