Man rescues unconscious man from burning apartment

A fearless man (36) from St. Veit an der Glan became a lifesaver: on his way home, he suddenly heard a smoke alarm from an apartment. The hero kicked in the door and rescued a 21-year-old from the billows of smoke. The victim had fallen asleep while cooking.

The 21-year-old had come home during the night and had wanted to make himself a frozen pizza. However, he had fallen asleep on the sofa and his meal began to smoke in the oven. A fireman from the neighborhood was on his way home shortly before 5 a.m., heard the audible smoke alarm from the street and followed the alarm.

21-year-old was taken to hospital
When he arrived at the apartment in question, the 36-year-old knocked loudly - and as no one responded, he simply kicked the door in. He discovered the sleeping man and immediately took him outside to safety. A short time later, the fire department, alerted by neighbors, arrived and brought the billows of smoke under control. The 21-year-old was taken to St. Veit an der Glan Hospital for medical clarification.
