Doskozil: “Agreement must be adhered to”

Further criticism from Burgenland and Lower Austria regarding the lockout of guest patients in Vienna. They are now insisting on compliance with the so-called 15a agreement.

This is not a case of neighborly help: because so-called "surgery tourists" allegedly cost the City of Vienna one billion euros a year, City Councillor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) has reportedly announced the introduction of upper limits for guest patients from the provinces - with the exception of acute cases.

Compliance with the agreement
Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) and Lower Austria's State Health Councillor Ludwig Schleritzko (ÖVP) are insisting on compliance with this 15a agreement, which regulates compensation for patients from other federal states who are treated in Vienna.

Deterioration of patients
Burgenland and Lower Austria would not accept a departure from this contractual agreement and thus a deterioration for patients from the two federal states. "I assume that contracts in Austria will be adhered to," said Doskozil.
