Woman (71) fell while descending from the Schöckl

The storm has left serious damage on the Schöckl. Trees that could become dangerous traps are lying around everywhere after the wind break. On Sunday morning, the rescuers had to set out to rescue a woman (71) who had fallen - a tricky undertaking!

Last week's storm had caused immense damage, especially at higher altitudes. Trees fell one after the other like matchsticks. It was precisely this circumstance that made a rescue on Graz's local mountain difficult on Sunday: in the morning, a 71-year-old woman and her husband descended the Schöckl via the Jägersteig. She slipped on a wet rock and injured her ankle so badly that she was unable to continue.

Wind throw made rescue difficult
Mountain rescuers and the crew of the C12 rescue helicopter arrived. However, the winds demanded everything from the rescuers to ensure the safe rescue of the injured. But despite the adverse conditions, they managed to get the woman safely out of her predicament and then fly her to Graz Regional Hospital.
