Drunk driver left a battlefield in Graz

A drunk driver lost control of his vehicle in the Liebenau district of Graz on Tuesday evening. He collided with traffic signs, campaign posters, a street lamp and two vehicles stopped at a red light. Apart from the drunk driver, all those involved were fortunately uninjured.

At around 6 p.m., the 30-year-old from the Graz-Umgebung district of Graz was driving his car on the L390 (Grambacherstraße) in a westerly direction. According to the police, he probably left the road in a left-hand bend. He crashed into several traffic signs, a road post, a street lamp and a fence.

When he steered his vehicle back onto the road, he crashed into the car of a 27-year-old man who had just stopped at a red traffic light. Due to the force of the impact, the car of the bystander was also pushed against a car in front of him.

Test revealed severe alcoholization
The 30-year-old was injured to an indeterminate degree in the accident and was taken to Graz University Hospital. A breathalyzer test revealed that he was heavily intoxicated. Forces from the Thondorf volunteer fire department and the Graz-Süd road maintenance department were deployed to clear up the mess left behind by the drunk driver.
