Police put an end to young quartet’s theft spree

Four suspects aged between 14 and 26 were very busy on their two-day tour through Lower Austria. What began in the town of Schwechat ended in Krems, where the handcuffs clicked.

The start of a two-day theft tour began on a company site in the city of Schwechat, where the group stole a van and sped off in the direction of the Weinviertel. Shortly before Drasenhofen, the van left the road and ended up in the ditch. 

The 22-year-old driver - who does not have a driver's license - and a 14-year-old female passenger were slightly injured. Undeterred by the accident, the suspects fled and stole a car nearby, which they used to drive back to Vienna. 

Second night, several vehicles
The following night, the gang attempted to steal more vehicles in Payerbach. After several failed attempts, they managed to steal another van and a car. The journey of the group, who are between 14 and 26 years old, ended in Krems, where the highway police provisionally arrested them.

"The suspects will be reported to the Vienna public prosecutor's office once the investigation is complete. They will now have to answer for several offenses, including theft and unauthorized use of vehicles," announced the Lower Austria Provincial Police Directorate. The group also faces charges from several district authorities for various administrative offenses.
