Pistol magazine in hotel bed: paramedics fled

Paramedics aborted a rescue operation in a hotel room in Innsbruck on Monday after discovering a pistol magazine on the bed. The alerted police then confronted the German guest - and eventually found cocaine on him.

The rescue operation took place on Monday morning in a hotel near the main railway station in Innsbruck. When the paramedics went into the room of the 27-year-old, who had apparently been in a state of mental emergency, they discovered a pistol magazine in the bed.

Police encountered suspect on entry
"The emergency services then withdrew from the room", according to the police. When the alerted police arrived at the hotel a short time later, the officers came across the man in the entrance area, who had left the room in the meantime and matched the description given by the paramedics.

During the subsequent search of his room, a magazine with blank ammunition was found, but no weapon.

Cocaine also seized
But that was not all: the officers also discovered around 20 grams of cocaine on the suspect. The man was provisionally arrested. Corresponding charges will be filed with the public prosecutor's office.
