Art in Vöcklabruck:

Numbers, puzzles and Sudoku made only of colors

Numbers are colors, codes are patterns, pictures are rhythms. All this results in "Constructive Art", which has also acquired the tender name "Visual Poetry". Josef Linschinger is one of the most important representatives of this movement in Austria. The Vöcklabruck City Gallery is dedicating a solo exhibition to him.

Josef Linschinger (75) is no fun artistically when it comes to precision. Because that is what he needs to constructively apply color fields, color moods, tones and lines to canvases. There is often a kind of riddle in the background. In one picture, vowels of words are translated into timbres. Or letters are thickened so that they form surfaces, and there are also Sudoku pictures.

Five cycles in five rooms
The Stadtgalerie Lebzelterhaus in Vöcklabruck is dedicating a remarkable solo exhibition to Linschinger. Five rooms house five cycles of works that translate writing and language, geometry and mathematics into appealing, colorful panel paintings. These are complemented by editions that Linschinger created with Eugen Gomringer, the "father of concrete art". The show can be seen until January 25.
