Attempted burglary led police to cannabis room

The police in Tamsweg seized six cannabis plants. The officers had only arrived because a witness had observed an alleged burglary attempt. The 26-year-old owner of the drug paraphernalia confessed.

In the early hours of September 10, the police were called to an apartment building in Tamsweg after an alleged burglary attempt was reported. A witness stated that he had observed a man trying to break into an open window of an apartment with the help of a ladder, the police wrote in a statement.

During the search of the apartment in question, however, the officers came across more than just evidence of a break-in: they discovered six cannabis plants in a locked adjoining room, which were immediately seized. They also found 27 grams of herbal cannabis, cash, a cell phone, a tablet and various items indicating drug use.

The 26-year-old owner of the apartment, a local resident, openly admitted to possessing the cannabis plants. However, he was unable to provide any information about the alleged burglary. The police investigation is ongoing.
