Woman hit by car and thrown through the air

A terrible accident on Saturday morning in Völs near Innsbruck: a pedestrian (23) was hit by a car on a safety path and thrown several meters through the air. The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The serious accident happened at around 8.15 am. A 28-year-old local woman was driving her car eastbound on Völser Straße (L11). At the same time, the pedestrian (23) wanted to cross the country road on a safety path.

"The 23-year-old woman was hit by the 28-year-old woman's approaching car and thrown about five meters through the air. She came to rest on the road", according to the police.

Taken to hospital by ambulance
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, she was taken to Innsbruck Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the car escaped with a scare - but her car was severely damaged. There were obstructions in the area of the accident.
