Collectors take note: Graz Airport is clearing out

Almost everything that is not nailed down is up for auction. Items such as a passenger staircase can be bid on until September 17.

A piece of the airport for your home, please! This or something similar is the current motto at Graz Airport. Fuel pumps, a passenger staircase and luggage trolleys are currently up for auction. As in 2022, Graz Airport is once again offering old equipment, vehicles and various other items for auction this year.

The focus is on sustainability
Instead of ending up in the scrapyard, the airport is giving decommissioned equipment a new owner - in the spirit of sustainable recycling. "We have been very careful for years when it comes to new acquisitions for reasons of cost and environmental protection," explain Managing Directors Wolfgang Grimus and Jürgen Löschnig.

"However, new safety regulations, the conversion of vehicles to electric drive, changes in general conditions or the excessive financial or time expenditure for maintenance make the purchase of new equipment necessary." In addition, recycling is a matter of attitude. Collectors and aircraft fans will be pleased.

From jeeps to passenger stairs
The range of vehicles and items on offer is wide. Among the items up for auction are a system tractor, a passenger staircase, a sweeper and a Jeep Grand Cherokee car. There is also a selection of various devices such as metal detectors, brake deceleration measuring devices, roller conveyor belts, high-pressure cleaners and multi-gas measuring devices. But a blackboard, two hospital beds, computer accessories, office furniture, workbenches and passenger guidance systems will also make collectors' hearts beat faster.

Anyone who no longer fully remembers the items from their last flight can browse through the items on site on Monday, September 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. after registering in advance by e-mail.
