Truck driver brings Loibach country road to a standstill

A total road closure had to be set up because a 50-year-old truck driver from the Czech Republic ignored a driving ban with her tractor unit and trailer loaded with liquid sulphuric acid and got stuck. A large contingent of emergency services were on site.

On Tuesday morning, the Loibacher Landesstraße (L 133) had to be completely closed in the direction of the Raunjak border crossing. Despite the sign prohibiting vehicles over 7.5 tons from driving, the 50-year-old driver continued her journey towards Slovenia. In a steeply ascending hairpin bend, the tractor unit reached its limit. The entire vehicle combination buckled at an acute angle and then came to a standstill. 

A total closure had to be initiated. The driver was unable to free herself due to the wedging of the tractor unit and the semi-trailer and had to wait for the emergency services in the vehicle.

A recovery company had to be called in to recover the semitrailer with tank body, which weighed around 40 tons and was in danger of sliding off. The recovery was carried out with the help of heavy equipment and was completed successfully. 

In addition to the recovery company, several police patrols and employees from the Lavamünd road maintenance department were also deployed.
