The 25-year-old who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend (22) five times with a kitchen knife in Linz-Ebelsberg is now in custody. He was transferred from hospital to prison on Sunday.

A 25-year-old Serbian man is said to have openly admitted to the police: "I wanted to kill her" after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend (22) five times with a 20-centimeter-long kitchen knife in Linz-Ebelsberg on Thursday evening.

The victim, covered in blood, saved herself in an apartment building, where neighbors provided first aid. According to information from "Krone", the 22-year-old was still in intensive care in a hospital in Linz at the weekend and could not yet be questioned.

The suspect, who injured himself with the knife, was taken from the hospital to the Linz prison on Sunday. He was remanded in custody in the evening hours. "Because of the risk of absconding, the risk of committing the crime and the risk of carrying it out", as Florian Roitner, spokesman for the Linz public prosecutor's office, explains.

Although the 25-year-old is not resident in Austria, he regularly commuted to the provincial capital to visit his girlfriend. He is believed to have taken the knife from a relative's apartment before the brutal attack.
