Should Sturm’s goal really have counted?

SV Ried were clearly the more dominant team for 22 minutes in the Cup match against Sturm Graz before the defending champions took the lead through Tomi Horvat. However, the goal was not entirely clean.

23rd minute, Sturm corner kick: Horvat lays the ball off, crosses - and celebrates. A spectacular dream goal, if it weren't for the discussion about a possible foul. 

Immediately before the ball landed in the net, Mika Biereth had brought down Ried goalkeeper Anreas Leitner, meaning the 30-year-old could no longer intervene. A clear foul, according to the home side. Referee Sebastian Gishamer saw it differently, however, and awarded 1:0 to the Styrians.
