Motorcyclist crashes into turning truck – dead

A terrible traffic accident on Monday in Schönberg in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley: a motorcyclist (59) crashed head-on into a truck that was about to turn off. The German suffered extremely serious injuries and was taken to the hospital in Innsbruck. He died there a short time later.

The serious accident happened at around 1.30 pm. A 23-year-old local man was driving a truck on the Brennerstraße (B182) coming from Matrei in a northerly direction. At Schönberg, the driver moved into the turning lane in order to turn left onto the Stubaitalstraße (B183).

In the course of the intended turning maneuver, the oncoming motorcyclist collided head-on with one of the truck's right-hand tires and sustained serious injuries.

And then it happened: a 59-year-old German biker was traveling in the opposite direction on Brennerstrasse at the same time. The German was first treated on the spot by the emergency services and then taken to Innsbruck Hospital. However, the injuries were too severe. The man died on Monday.
