One injured in an accident in the Felbertauern tunnel

Total damage to the vehicles and one injured occupant - that is the result of a crash on Monday evening near Mittersill. An American and an East Tyrolean collided with their cars in the Felbertauern Tunnel. One car was left on its roof.

A 24-year-old American citizen was driving a rental car in the evening hours on Monday. He was driving on the Felbertauernstraße coming from Matrei/East Tyrol in the direction of Mittersill. In the area of the Felbertauern tunnel, there was a collision with an oncoming vehicle for unknown reasons.

Car ended up on its roof just after the tunnel
A 51-year-old man from East Tyrol was in the car. As a result of the collision, the rental car hit the tunnel wall, skidded approx. 120 meters further to just after the "Nord" tunnel portal and came to rest on its roof.

The driver of the rental car and his three passengers were not injured. The East Tyrolean was taken to Lienz Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity. The vehicles were totaled. Alcohol tests carried out were negative, according to the police.
