Helicopter operation in Murau

Car collision: three people (19, 21, 24) injured

A serious accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in St. Georgen am Kreischberg (Murau district): A 19-year-old woman lost control of her car on the wet road and crashed into an oncoming car. The car's occupants (21 and 24) were trapped. All three people involved had to be taken to hospital.

The rain-soaked road was the undoing of a 19-year-old woman from the Murau district on Sunday afternoon. At around 17.20, she was driving her car on the B 97 towards St. Georgen am Kreischberg when she skidded onto the oncoming lane in the so-called Olach curve.

Two people trapped in the car
She had no chance to react and crashed into an oncoming car. Its occupants (21 and 24) were trapped in the vehicle. The Murau and St. Georgen fire departments had to cut them free.

24-year-old transported away by helicopter
The 24-year-old driver from the Oberwart district was flown by rescue helicopter to Klagenfurt Hospital with indeterminate injuries. His 21-year-old co-driver from Hungary and the 19-year-old woman involved in the accident were taken to Judenburg Regional Hospital. The B 97 was closed until shortly after 7 pm.
