Accident in tunnel paralyzes evening traffic

Two cars and a motorcycle were involved in a serious accident on the Inntal highway in the Wilten Tunnel near Innsbruck late on Friday afternoon. There were long traffic jams in the evening traffic. 

Shortly before 4 p.m., there was a crash in the Wilten Tunnel heading west. A 57-year-old woman crashed into the tunnel wall for as yet unexplained reasons. Her car was thrown back onto the road and hit a motorcyclist (65). The latter crashed. 

The 57-year-old's car hit the tunnel wall a second time and lost a front tire. This crashed into another car, driven by a 49-year-old man. The car driver and the motorcyclist were seriously injured in the accident.

The tunnel had to be closed for an hour in order to recover the badly damaged accident vehicles and the injured. Within a very short time, there was a long traffic jam on the A12.
