Head-on collision at the end of the day: Driver had a blood alcohol level of 2.2

Someone must have taken the word "after work" too literally: With a blood alcohol level of 2.22, a 57-year-old man caused a head-on accident in St. Florian near Linz on Wednesday, crashing into the car of a 28-year-old man who was waiting for his wife to open the garden gate.

A 28-year-old man was driving his car in Sankt Florian near Linz at around 9.15 p.m. on Wednesday and was waiting for his wife to open the garden gate, turning left. At the same time, a 57-year-old man from the Linz-Land district was driving his car from Niederneukirchen in the direction of Sankt Florian Markt. 

Driver's license confiscated
At the level of Thannstraße, the 57-year-old crashed his vehicle head-on into the 28-year-old's car. A breathalyzer test carried out on the 57-year-old revealed a blood alcohol level of 2.22 per mille. His driver's license was temporarily confiscated and he was prohibited from continuing to drive.
