Light aircraft makes an emergency landing – pilot uninjured

After take-off in Mauterndorf, a Swiss pilot got into difficulties. He had to make an emergency landing on a meadow 500 meters after the runway at Austria's highest airfield.

A light aircraft got into difficulties for unknown reasons on Tuesday after taking off from Mauterndorf airfield in Salzburg's Lungau region, around 30 meters above the ground. The 54-year-old pilot from Switzerland decided to make an emergency landing.

Aircraft damaged
His "off-field landing" then took place near the airfield. He touched the plane down on a meadow around 500 meters after the runway. According to the police, the man was uninjured. However, the plane was damaged.
