Train at a standstill at 34 degrees: 25 guests rescued

And that at 34 degrees! Due to a technical defect, a regional train of the Linzer Lokalbahn came to a standstill on the open track between Rufling and Dörnbach-Hitzing on Monday afternoon. The Rufling fire department rescued 25 passengers. One woman, who had been returning from vacation for some time, had to be cared for by the Red Cross.

The regional railcar of the Linz-Eferding local line came to a standstill on the open track between the Rufling and Dörnbach-Hitzing stops at around 2.52 p.m. due to a technical defect. A replacement railcar was requested, but even with this it was not possible to tow the defective railcar away.

 Due to the high outside temperatures of around 34 degrees Celsius, the fire and rescue services were alerted to evacuate the passengers. The fire department was able to quickly escort the 25 passengers out of the train and take them to the next stop, where a replacement train was waiting. One person was treated by the emergency services and taken to hospital.
