Pilz: Tears of joy after Tokyo drama

There were tears for Jessica Pilz in Tokyo 2021. She narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the first combined climbing competition in Olympic history and came seventh. Today everything was different in Le Bourget: the Lower Austrian won bronze and cried with joy.

Pilz finished third behind Janja Garnbret (Slovenia) and Brooke Raboutou (USA) in the competition, which no longer consisted of speed but only bouldering and lead climbing.

It was the fifth medal for Austria at the Olympic Games in Paris. The day before, Jakob Schubert had also won climbing bronze in the men's event.
