Crane on truck hits overhead power line

After an unloading operation in the municipality of Eberndorf on Friday, a truck driver forgot to retract the crane on his vehicle and thus cut an overhead power line. 

The 63-year-old man from Völkermarkt had been transporting an excavator on his truck, which he had unloaded at a company in the municipality of Eberndorf on Friday morning. After the operation, however, the man forgot to retract the crane on his vehicle.

When the truck driver finally set off again, he ran into an overhead power line with the crane between Mökriach and Hof at around 11.20 a.m., causing it to break. "The line remained on the ground and continued to carry electricity. The man immediately informed the emergency services," said the police. 

Road was closed
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The road had to be completely closed in this area for around 1.5 hours until the electricity supplier's fault service arrived.
