The 78-year-old hunter was working on the high seat at a height of five meters when the accident occurred. He was just about to screw a board to the top of the high seat when the man lost his balance. "He fell about five meters and came to rest in the steeply sloping forest, just under 15 meters below the high seat," the police report.

Friends rushed to help
His three friends immediately rushed to the 78-year-old's aid and set the rescue chain in motion. However, due to the difficult terrain, the rescue teams were reliant on assistance. "The injured man was rescued by the Alpine rescue team with the support of the volunteer fire department," the police continued.

The seriously injured hunter was then flown to Klagenfurt University Hospital by the Christophorus 11 rescue helicopter. The Neuhaus and Bach fire departments were deployed with three vehicles and 20 firefighters.
