Thieves stole 1.5 tons of copper for 40,000 euros

Real professionals must have been at work: previously unknown perpetrators stole a total of 1.5 tons of copper cable from an ÖBB site in Linz. Value of the tons of loot: around 40,000 euros.

Investigators are still in the dark, but what is known so far is that the theft must have occurred between Wednesday evening, 5.30 p.m., and Thursday morning, 7.00 a.m.. The crime scene is an ÖBB site in Linz.

Roller shutter broken open
According to the police, as yet unknown perpetrators broke open the box of the external control of a roller shutter gate and were then able to open it. The thieves then stole around 1.5 tons of copper cable from the ÖBB premises.

The police estimate the value of the loot at around 40,000 euros. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
