Drunk driver makes a spectacular “take-off” in Tyrol

A devastating accident late on Monday evening in the Tyrolean lowlands: a 23-year-old female driver left the road between Volders and Wattens (Innsbruck-Land district), whereupon the car overturned and came to a halt lying on its roof on the road. The young woman suffered injuries - according to the police, a breathalyzer test was positive.

The accident happened at around 10.45 pm. The 23-year-old local woman was driving her car on Tiroler Straße (B171) from Volders in the direction of Wattens when she suddenly left the road on the right and crashed into a town sign.

"As a result, the car hit the uphill embankment, causing it to overturn and ultimately come to a standstill on the road lying on its roof," reported the police.

The 23-year-old female driver was able to free herself from the car. She suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital in Hall by ambulance after receiving first aid at the scene of the accident.

The woman's driving license was temporarily confiscated due to the alcohol level detected.

"The woman's driver's license was temporarily confiscated due to the alcohol level detected," the investigators continued. Corresponding charges will follow. The car was recovered by the Volders volunteer fire department. The B171 was closed in the area of the accident until 11.45 pm.
